SDPPI DJID Labeling Requirements for Telecommunication Devices in Indonesia

In Indonesia, every telecommunication device that has obtained an official certificate from SDPPI/DJID (Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure) must carry an official label in accordance with Ministerial Regulation No. 3 of 2024.

This requirement applies to both domestically manufactured and imported devices, serving as proof that the device has passed testing and complies with applicable technical standards.

1. Mandatory Information on the Label

The label for certified telecommunication devices must include:

  • Certificate Number and PLG ID (Certificate Holder ID).
  • QR Code containing certification details.
  • Warning sign regarding restrictions on device modifications.

2. Information Contained in the QR Code

The QR Code on the label must at least include:

  • Certificate Number.
  • PLG ID.
  • Brand of the device.
  • Device type/model.
  • Other data elements listed in the official certificate.

This QR Code allows users, officials, or authorities to verify the authenticity of the certificate directly via the official SDPPI/DJID database.

3. Warning Sign

The label must display a warning that prohibits altering the device specifications in a way that may cause physical or electromagnetic interference to its surroundings.

4. Label Placement Locations

The label must be affixed to:

  1. The device itself (physical unit).
  2. The packaging of the device.

If the device is too small for a physical label, the label must at least be placed on the packaging.

5. Label Application Methods

The label can be applied using:

  • Embossing (raised), debossing (engraved), or direct printing.
  • High-quality adhesive stickers.
  • Digital/E-Label for devices with a display screen (e.g., smartphones, tablets, head units).

6. Label Format

The format of the label is set out in the appendix of Ministerial Regulation No. 3 of 2024 and must be followed by all certificate holders.

7. Proof of Labeling Submission

Certificate holders are required to:

  • Submit proof of labeling to the Directorate General no later than 30 days after the certificate is issued.
  • Submit by uploading photos of the labeled device through the Certification Service Facility of DJID.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

  • Rejection of distribution or sale of the device in Indonesia.
  • Possible revocation of the certificate.
  • Administrative sanctions under telecommunication regulations.
