What is DJID certification, and why is it required for devices in Indonesia?
DJID certification is an official approval issued by the Indonesian Directorate General of Infrastructure and Digital (DJID). It is mandatory for telecommunication and electronic devices that utilize radio frequency or connect to public networks before being marketed or distributed in Indonesia.
The certification ensures that all imported or locally manufactured devices comply with national technical standards for safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and radio frequency usage. This process is essential to prevent interference with other devices and to ensure quality and reliability in Indonesian infrastructure.
By obtaining DJID certification, manufacturers and importers demonstrate compliance with local regulations, ensuring market access, consumer trust, and legal operation in Indonesia. It also enhances brand credibility and prevents regulatory issues.
What type of testing is required for my device to apply for DJID certification?
The type of testing required depends on the features of your device. If your device has radio frequency features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cellular, it may require RF, EMC, and possibly SAR testing. Some devices may also require Safety testing depending on the risk level of electrical components.
After you submit the product datasheet and user manual, our engineering team will identify the appropriate test requirements. This ensures the testing scope matches your device’s functionality.
Each device is evaluated based on Indonesian regulations. Some may qualify for document-based evaluations, but others will need full local lab testing.
How many samples are required for local testing?
Generally, we require at least two samples for testing. One will be used for radiated testing and another for conducted testing. If your product also requires Safety or SAR testing, additional samples may be needed.
The samples must be fully functional and configured according to their regular operating modes. Accessories like chargers, antennas, or software tools that support testing should be included.
We recommend preparing spare units in case one fails or is damaged during testing. Incomplete or non-functional samples will delay the process.
How long does the DJID certification process usually take and what factors affect the lead time?
The DJID certification process usually takes around 4 to 6 weeks after all required documents and samples are submitted completely. This timeline includes the queue for local testing, test report issuance, document review, and certificate approval.
However, the actual lead time can vary depending on several factors such as the availability of test labs, holidays, technical issues with the product, and completeness of documentation. Delays may also occur if the product fails initial testing or if additional clarification is needed by the authorities.
To minimize delays, applicants are encouraged to work with certification consultants like Cerapproval who are experienced in navigating the SDPPI/DJID system, and to monitor announcements from DJID regarding system changes or updates.
How to Create an ID Izin for DJID Certification?
To begin the telecommunication device certification process under DJID (Directorate General of Information and Public Communication), the first step is to create an ID Izin through the OSS (Online Single Submission) system. You’ll need to log in to your OSS account at https://ui-login.oss.go.id/login, click “PB-UMKU – New Application”, and search for the applicable KBLI (Indonesia Standard Business Classification) related to your device, then click “UMKU Business Licensing Process.”
After that, click “Apply for UMKU Business License” and scroll down until you see the question “Do you need another UMKU Business License?” – click “Yes.” Then, search and select “Certificate for Telecommunication Equipment and/or Devices”, and choose “No” for additional permits. Find the most recent application based on the submission date and click “Fulfill PB UMKU Requirements in the Ministry/Agency System.” You will then be redirected to the E-Certification / SDPPI system.
Once redirected, go to the “Checklist Data” menu and ensure that your ID Izin has been successfully created. This ID is essential for submitting the certification application and uploading technical documents to the DJID/SDPPI portal. Following these steps properly ensures that your certification process is aligned with Indonesia’s latest telecom regulatory standards.
What’s the first step to start the DJID certification process?
